Anak Melayu Boleh Blog Review

Next on my quest for linkbait I cam across Sha dot com. It’s a funny site with an ‘Uncle’ blogging at the helm. Melayu Boleh! Not exactly sure what that means, but that is ok.  His blog posts make sense and he has the most unique site I have seen in a while.  Unique in a good way.  My only complaint is I found it hard to get to the blog home page.  The nav is just a bit to understated compared to some of his other images.

The site is PR 4 right now and gets 250k in page views a month.  Not bad for some link love action.  Come on Uncle, link me up.

Matthew is running a linkback promotion on his PR4 blog.

Just a few requirements:

1) must be at least 175 words

2) you must link  the homepage using the anchor text “make money online” or “blogging for money” or “seo tips.”

Pretty easy.  As for his blog?  It looks good.  I like the header.  Wonder where the photo is from.  California?  As for the linkback promotion, not many have entered so there is a good chance that he will just do a dedicated review of your site instead of a clump of links.

I see that he just got an iPhone.  Looks like he is having trouble with it.  I can't imagine spending that much on a phone only to have trouble... oh wait I had a Treo for many years.  Bugs of all sizes.

GobalaKrishnan.com is a blog that helps you start your own Internet home business. If you review his blog, he’ll link back to you and send you a ton of traffic.  He has a PR 4 blog.

There are only a few requirements:

  1. Do a 50 - 100 words review of GobalaKrishnan.com on your blog or website - say anything you want
  2. Put your review on a new blog post (not page) that is using normal HTML (not Flash or an image)
  3. Link back to GobalaKrishnan.com using the anchor text “Internet home business” or “Work at Home”
  4. You must also link to this page using to show the rules of the review
  5. Contact me using this form with the URL of your review, your targeted keyword and website URL, and I will link back to your blog in my post

Gobala has a good looking site that is original in its design and layout.  Its good to see the translate options.  Reminding me that I need to do that for my own site sooner rather than later.

Todays linkback review is for ghacks.net.  This is a tech blog and has a good number of subscribers.  One of the few blogs I have been on today that isn't rehashing stuff from other blogs or slashdot / techdirt.  Sometimes the tech is gadgets, sometimes it is web site related such as this button maker review.

Just a couple recommendations:

  1. Make the default number of posts per page more than 3.  Often your left and right bars are longer than the posts in the middle.  Maybe up to 5?
  2. Display the date for each post.  Maybe it is there hiding but I can't find it.

www.taxfix.co.uk is running a linkback program with a PR 6 blog.  To enter you simply have to link to their tax site using the anchor text ‘tax rebate‘.  Unlike other linkback programs they have very few other rules than that.

They also have a very handly list of linkback blog promotions.  I will use it over the next week or so.  No more blog entries today, except maybe a traffic recap of my first week in operation.

Nomar is running a linkback campaign to better promote his blog for the Online Marketing term.  He has a PR 5 web site, so the linkback could be somewhat valuable for traffic and your own blogs PR.

He has a lot of good quality content regarding SEO, blogging, and making money with blogging.   I liked some of his SEO myths such as "Pages with .php extensions don’t rank as well as pages with .html extensions".  I see that often for coldfusion (.cfm) as well.  Search engines don't care about the extension of the web site.

His web site is run by the all popular wordpress and the layout shows a bit.  I know I know, I still have to update my layout.  I do like his header though.  It isn't the traditional cars or cheezy business guy image.  That is becoming more and more important to me.  His tagline "Passion to succeed overcomes your barriers" seems to be a misdirection though.  I know what it means, but maybe something a bit more topical and specific.  Philosophical taglines rarely do anything for anyone other than the author.  A new one could be more SEO targeted too.

All in all, good quality site.  Nice job.

Shawn Knight has an interesting blog.  He is also running a link back promotion.

He has a blog entry stating 8 interesting things about him.  Number six says:

"6. I played in a Super Mario Bros. video game contest at Wal-Mart and got beat by my mom!"  Ouch!

From his blog I mostly enjoy the daily ownage photos and lolcatz photos.  He also reviews computer cases, which I wish I had known when I was in the market for one.  I like the one I got, but it is a bit louder than I would prefer.  Easily enough fixed, but those are nice things to know ahead of time.

Pilot John is having a contest.  Review his site and send traffic.  The lucky winner will get a free t-shirt pictured below.  While it doesn't say directly, I believe the winner is the one sending the most traffic.  Which means those of us entering the contest late are at a disadvantage.  Still, a contest is a contest right?

One thing I will note about his blog is that when I went to it the second time an ad took over, I had to click on the 'skip this ad' link to get to his site.  What kind of craziness is that.  It isn't cool even on big sites.  The site itself though is a nice focused blog on flying, planes, airport security, etc.

Blog-Op is running a contest right now that offers not only a link back but also the chance at an ad on his site worth $60.  This contest will take a link, paragraph mention, or a full review.  Full reviews get counted as two entries.

Normally when reviewing a blog I try to find an entry that is a bit old.  Something showing some history.  However I thought his latest entry was particularly notable to this blogs readership.  How to get thousands more readers near instantly.  Of course the trick is that your blog should be of a similar type to the rest of the community group in megite.  Still it is a good idea and many of the blogs mentioned here should apply.

Something I like about this blog is that it is nice and clean.  Easy to read, well laid out.  Makes me want to work on this blog's design more.  It is interesting he is using blogcatalog but not mybloglog.  I wonder why?  I removed blogcatalog from one of my sites due to its slowness.  That slowness caused my blog to be very slow to load, though I imagine that has been fixed by now.  Maybe I should add it back on?

Taking a slightly different tack than many linkback promotions, Jon Waraas dot com would like to be known for the anchor tag Make Money At Home.  Good idea I think.  Less competition and probably often enough searched.

I actually spent most of my time on his site checking out his new house he had built.  I love looking at construction, seeing how people approach layouts, etc.  One thing I notice is he used regular insulation instead of the nifty new foam stuff.  When my wife and I gutted our current house we opted for the foam insulation as it has a higher R factor and adds some strength once it hardens up.  I don't think a lot of people know about it though and it is more expensive. Then again where we live good insulation in the summer and winter time pays off!

All in all he got the land and house built for about 185k which is pretty darn good.  Hell we bought this house for 250k+ then gutted it to studs and rebuilt.  With no land, garage or parking.  I just looked at 9 acres of land in town that is literally 8 acres swampland 1 acre buildable.  The land alone is 250k... for a freaking swamp you can't build on.  Yikes.

At any rate Jon is doing well for himself and thats great to see.  Grats Jon.

Successonline.IN is a blog and website that helps you make money online. The website gets a decent load of traffic and offers to link to your site or blog if you write a review on them.

I learned something immediately from reading the blog.  Success Online provides some good tips for game developers in the mobile market.  I am sure there are plenty of people thinking that they can build a quick little game for cash, and have the tech ability to do so, but don't know the first thing about how to sell it, promote it or find someone to publish it.  That is why blogs are so powerful.  Little nuggets like this.

I know I am a broken record about these things, but again the header needs to change.  The man offering to shake your hand is just to old and used. Not that I should talk, I still haven't gotten a header for my new blog yet.  But still, I figure I may as well bring it up. :-)
